All public input must meet the requirements set out in the Council Procedures Bylaw and Public Input at Regular Council Meetings Policy.
Verbal Submissions: There are opportunities for the public to address Council at Regular Council meetings. Speakers will be given up to two minutes. The Public Input portion of the meeting is limited to 10-15 minutes per session. If you’d like to take part, you can attend the meeting in-person or as a electronic meeting participant.
Written Submissions: The public may participate in the Written Public Input process by providing a submission that fits the criteria outlined in the Public Input at Regular Council Meetings policy, and submitted using one of the methods below. Submissions are limited to 750 words and must be submitted by noon on the day prior to the Council meeting date. (e.g. 12:00pm Monday for meetings that commence on Tuesday). Correspondence received past the deadline for a Council meeting date will be included in the Public Input Submissions package for the next scheduled Council meeting.
- Use the Written Public Input to Council webform (recommended);
- by email to: council@kaslo.ca (please include "Public Input" in the subject line); OR
- by hard copy delivered to City Hall, 413 Fourth Street, Kaslo, BC V0G 1M0
If you would like to address Council on a specific issue for a period of longer than two minutes or 750 words, or would like to present documents, images, or videos, you may wish to appear as a presenter or delegation.
Submissions that include any of the following will NOT be included in the Written Public Input package:
- matters handled by Human Resources and/or Payroll Services;
- matters protected under FIPPA that cannot be reasonably redacted;
- sensitive or confidential matters, including matters being considered in Closed Council; and/or
- content that is deemed to be or to include parts that are threatening, deliberately and unreasonably repetitious, defamatory, or otherwise inappropriate.
Accepted written public input will become public record. Personal information is collected and redacted by the Village of Kaslo pursuant to Section 26 of the British Columbia Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 165 and will be used solely for the purpose of administering the Village’s Public Input at regular Council Meetings Policy.
