2026 Financial Plan

The Village of Kaslo’s 2026 Financial Plan outlines how the municipality will fund services, maintain infrastructure, and invest in the community over the next five years.

The plan covers the 2026–2030 planning period and reflects Council priorities, service levels, and anticipated financial pressures.

What is the Financial Plan?

Under the Community Charter, municipalities in British Columbia are required to adopt a multi‑year financial plan each year. Kaslo’s Financial Plan:

  • Sets out proposed operating and capital expenditures
  • Identifies funding sources, including taxation, fees, and reserves
  • Supports the long‑term financial sustainability of municipal services and infrastructure
  • Helps Council make informed decisions that balance community needs with affordability

Public Consultation

Council welcomed public input on the 2026 Draft Financial Plan before it was adopted.

Residents and stakeholders were invited to:

  • Review the draft plan
  • Ask questions
  • Provide written or verbal feedback

All comments received were shared with Council as part of the budget deliberation process.

Public input was provided by:

  • Email: admin@kaslo.ca
  • In writing: delivered or mailed to City Hall
  • In person: at a Council meeting where the draft plan is presented

Printed copies are available for review at City Hall during regular business hours.

BC Assessment

Property assessments were prepared by BC Assessment, an independent provincial Crown corporation. Assessment values were used to determine how property taxes were distributed but do not set municipal tax rates.

For information on how property assessments are calculated, how they relate to property taxes, and where to find help and educational resources, visit our BC Assessment Information page.
