Water Conservation Measures

Level 1

Effective June 1st to September 15th every year

ODD numbered addresses may water lawns on ODD numbered dates, and EVEN numbered addresses on EVEN numbered dates. Watering may occur only from 6:00am to 9am and from 7pm to 10pm.

Flowerbeds and vegetable gardens may be watered by hand, at anytime, using a watering can or a hose with a nozzle with a trigger shut off to restrict water flow. Sprinklers and like water toys may be used for recreational purposes by children as long as children are present during use, including children’s pools (capacity not more than 1,000 liters). Requests for site and condition specific irrigation scheduling for Commercial/Institutional operations using metered irrigation systems may be approved by the Village of Kaslo.

Level 2

All outdoor water use is prohibited (eg washing vehicles, sidewalks, driveways, exteriors of buildings, recreational use of sprinklers and like water toys etc) Excepting:  Lawns, flowerbeds and vegetable gardens as described in Level 1.

Level 3

All outdoor water use is prohibited (eg washing vehicles, sidewalks, driveways, exteriors of buildings, recreational use of sprinklers AND LAWNS etc)

Requests for site and condition specific irrigation scheduling for Commercial/Institutional operations using metered hand watering or continually monitored systems for the establishment and protection of new plant material, including sod and trees, may be approved by the Village of Kaslo.

Level 4

All outdoor water use is prohibited. 

If you find a Water Smart flag in front of your home, please consider it a friendly warning that you have been observed not to be following the conservation rules.

PENALTY FOR NON-COMPLIANCE WILL BE SERVICE CONNECTION SHUT-OFF, FOLLOWING ONE WRITTEN NOTICE DELIVERED TO THE PROPERTY OWNER OR OCCUPANT.
